Maximoff are from Roma but not in the sense of being of mostly sub-Saharan ancestry.
Gypsies (as in Roma, not just any group of nomads) are descended from people who migrated from South Asia, what is now India & Pakistan, as their language shows. Genetic analysis agrees, but also shows a variable but usually considerable amount of ancestry picked up along the way. Many SE European Roma I’ve seen look as if they could have just stepped off a plane from India. Long-established Roma populations in NW Europe are lighter-skinned, & this matches their ancestry, which has a lot of Central & W. European in it.
Spanish Roma migrated to Spain across N. Africa, so are likely to have a little sub-Saharan ancestry, but probably not much.
In English (at least in its homeland), people of mixed S. Asian/W. Asian/N. African/European ancestry aren’t called black.
Black people aren’t a particularly common sight in

They are not “non white”, they are Caucasian. Yes, of course it depends
on the Roma, level of mixing etc. But they
have also been in Europe for hundreds and hundreds of years. If we’re
speaking about the twins’ ethnicity then, yes, they are half-Jewish and

Now THAT”S what I’m talking about. I’d rather see her with this one instead of her classic one. I mean…LOOK AT HER. She looks POWERFUL. Here she’s truly looks like a Queen…leader and a warrior type. That’s what a Queen of Mutants should look like. Here she’s not all green but black added to her costume was an amazing idea. This is her unique look. Love those unique boots…her shoulder pads…her skull (just like she has in her classic costume) and her headpiece that makes her looks like a badass Queen. Not to mention her SMOKEY HAIR. She looked fabulous during that period of time. I love those designs as well as her personality. Here she was depicted as a powerful mutant that her father couldn’t be without. I literally don’t mind her wearing this again. If she can wear the classic over and over again…why not wear this. She looks amazing…wow…

Now THAT’S a innovation. Green…yeah…but it’s a completely different costume with some nice personality. I love those high boots…headdress looks phenomenal…and the cape all crazy. Polaris is one of those characters that has gone through many different costumes and all fierce…but always going back to the classic…boring…old one. Why? I don’t need the green to know is her. I want some nice touch in her costume if she’s keeping her classic. I feel personally attacked.
I have to admit that I do love her looks. This costume is one of her best. It does have some positive vibes (just like the one she was wearing during Genosha).
There are certain personality traits in this costume with good vibes and have what make us want her to be… a badass, fierce, scary, leader with nice personality. She did go through many costumes during her past 50 years and I understand how she always ended up going back to her classic one. I also don’t see why keep her all green given that her hair and ability are her signature. Maybe we’ll get to see this particular costume in the near future just like the story depicted.
The green and gold was a good combination for her classic costume.

Polaris is known for the amount of amazing costumes…and to believe that she can only go back to the old, green, classic costume…it’s super crazy. Often, I find myself contemptuous of those who pretend they cannot see the
problem with Polaris wearing an old costume from the 60′s.
I don’t care about classic…I care about transformation…that can take her personality to the next level. I don’t need the whole green to know it’s her. As you said…her hair and ability are her signatures. We don’t need the whole green as her signature.
Getting small amount of designs it’s not a significant innovation. She’s always plain green…no design whatsoever…and never getting secondary colors. Sometimes she does…but not always. If we want a perfect image as a Queen of Mutants…we will need a fierce costume that would serve her as a leader…just like in this image here. It’s all green but with secondary and tertiary colors and cool designs. I have nothing against her classic costume. I’m just mad that she’s wearing her old classic costume in the new Uncanny xmen. While Jean gets to have a completely different costume…Rogue gets a completely different costume…Psylocke…Storm..etc. Why can’t Polaris? Storm’s costume looks horrendous…with a giant X in her torso. It reminds me of Cyclops during his revolution. They can make the effort to create those ridiculous costumes but they can’t make Polaris a combination of variation of colors and designs? Fuck no… @marvelentertainment need to do better.
